Being a woman wasn’t always easy for Kimberly. For her, embracing what seemed weak, was belittling. Her disappointment with strength, as well as a career path, set inside of her with-in her youth years. Kimberly strived to be diverse with gender and to be strong physically as well as mentally.

Mental strength from someone who struggles with depression and anxiety is not something one usually relates to. These mental struggles however is the foundation of the strength, Kimberly did build along her journey.

It is far easier to look at those who seem to be at peace or cool, calm, and collective to admire what we think is strength. Often time those who appear this way, are struggling; a common misconception. Feeling weak inside but wanting to appear tough is only the beginning of the journey. Over time, our feelings become apparent to the ones who are closest to us. Or perhaps we don’t allow many to come close to us and a glimpse of that insecurity peeks through.

As a young girl, I didn’t feel accepted by my mom or the kids at school. My mom favored by younger sister and often spoke about boys with disgust. I often thought I was suppose to be a boy. I was definitely convinced I was switched at birth. I didn’t feel I had the right Mom. Why would God, give me this mother? This was a thought process I often had as a child suffering with depression and anxiety. I have long forgiven my mom, knowing she did her best, having me at the age of 16, all the while enduring abuse from my father.

Kimberly hopes to share her story, confusion, trials, and tribulations to show the strength she has gained along the way. A deep thinker she has always been, searching for answers, curious as to why so many don’t ask more questions. It isn’t so much her story she wants you to see, but the emotions behind the experiences to relate to your own story.

Perhaps their questions are deep within and they are waiting for someone as brave as me to share what seems too scary to say aloud.

Growth… So much more to come… Photographer: Stevi Bean of https://www.stevibeanphotography.com/

Leaving behind her third decade of life, Kimberly is accepting and embracing the majestic aura of becoming a beautiful woman, welcoming the turning of age 40, in just a few short months.

Thank you for embarking on Kimberly’s journey.
