This is for the people who don’t understand why people hurt themselves. Self-harm comes in many different forms. You could even go as far as to say not even loving yourself is harmful for yourself. Here is a story about a girl who was and is still an amazing person, but never believed.
Pretty sure all children think life is unfair at one point. They might even go as far as saying, “I hate you”, to their parents. When a child goes as far as to say, “I wish I were dead”, that’s a red flag.
When people feel negatively about themselves, they need others to love them while they are unable to love themselves. This means compassion, kind advice, and listening. Having open conversations about life in serious ways is vital to our youth. Shaming people with their difficulties only single them out and cause them to go into isolation. We can be our absolute worst enemy sometimes.
Before you judge someone, you see clearly making bad decisions, ask yourself why. Once we become a certain age, we know the difference between right and wrong. This certain age is different for everyone.
I personally always felt my soft heart was pure and gentle, but I was confused as to why I didn’t feel loved and I hated myself. As I got older, I made bad decisions, with accepting the negative consequences. I figured I could deal with it all, no matter what it was. I was wrong. Looking back, I can clearly see how much I didn’t love myself. I made bad decisions because I felt I deserved to be punished. I wasn’t convinced my life could be worthy of existence.
I openly share my pain because I hid it for so long. I felt alone and then I was alone. We are not alone. We all deserve to know the beauty of existing. I will always be able to actively listen to anyone who wants to share their pain.
